Sommar always did her best to teach me how to sing and play piano. She cares so much about her students success and how to teach them most effectively. Although she taught me how to play piano and sing, I feel that the most important aspect is that she taught be how to read music. I had multiple music teachers as a kid, however, I never completely understood until I was taught by her. She was the only music teacher that was able to make me understand. Therefore, not only do I feel more comfortable playing piano and singing, but I can also read music for other instruments as well. "I've had many vocal teachers, Sommar has been the one who I've learned the most from. I have known her for about 4 years now. In that 4 years, 2 of which I was taking lessons from her, I went from being a low alto to hitting high soprano notes. She doesn't just teach how to sing but how to be a stronger performer. She also taught me proper terms and how to use them while singing. Sommar is an amazing teacher and I've learned a lot from her. She was not only my teacher but a friend when I need someone to talk to, always willing to listen. She made me love singing again when I lost my passion for it. I was an exchange student in the states a few years ago, and Sommar was my voice and piano teacher. It is not always easy to adapt to a new place, country or culture, and I found great support in Sommar. I had never taken voice lessons before, and was a bit insecure when it came to singing solo, but Sommar made me feel so comfortable and I felt I came so far. I had taken piano lessons before, but I was not comfortable with my first teacher. I felt she would sigh every time I had to play new pieces, and that only made me even more nervous. But when I started taking classes with Sommar, it changed immediately, and I really looked forward to her classes, and I learned so much. She is such a patient, talented, sweet and loving person and a wonderful teacher. Sommar is an amazing pianist and singer, and makes music fun and delightful. I have recently been taking singing lessons from Sommar and can honestly say that I've never learned so much while having so much fun. She has taken someone with absolutely no musical background and opened my eyes to the complicated yet wonderful world of music. She broke down the basics for me in a way that I could remember and utilize them. Her endless tricks, strategies, and practices have helped me grow and come out of my musical shell. When I was younger I had two vocal teachers. I had worked with one for five years before she retired. That was when I met Sommar and decided to take lessons from her. I was a student of Sommar's for only a year, but in that year I learned more about vocal technique than I did from my other teacher in 5 . Sommar really believed in me and pushed me to learn different techniques. She gave me pieces that my previous instructor thought were too difficult for me, but through her instruction, I was able to do more than I ever thought I could. We Love Sommar. Sommar teaches piano to my two, 14 year old sons. Her personality is sweet and kind. Her knowledge of piano and music theory is very apparent from the first lesson.
